PATTAYA

Pattaya, meaning south-west monsoon wind, is located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand, 145 kilometres from Bangkok.  The city is a very popular place for tourist from around the world, with over 5 million people visiting annually.  It is second only to Bangkok in relation to the number of high rise buildings, with many world class resorts, condos and apartments, which are mostly occupied by foreigners.

There are numerous tourism related activities in Pattaya and the surrounding areas.  In previous years Pattaya was well known for its core sex-industry, but nowadays the town has attempted to clean up its image with more family-focused entertainment on the rise.  Pattaya city is lined with the Pattaya Beach, where there is a large quantity of jet skis and speedboats.  Most of the beach is covered in deck chairs and vendors.  There are also several golf courses, go-kart racing areas, boat trips, theme parks and nightly cabaret shows.

JOMTIEN BEACH
Jomtien Beach is separated from Pattaya Beach by the Pratumnak Hill.  It is more of a family oriented beach, with its main landmark being the 56 story Pattaya Park tower.  This complex contains a water park, roller coaster, monorail and various other activities.  The Jomtien area is also home to the largest resort in Asia, with over 4000 rooms. 

KO LAN ISLAND
Ko Lan is a coral island, just 7.5 kilometres west of Pattaya and accessible by boat and ferry.  The island is 4 kilometres long and 2 kilometres wide.  There are six beaches on the island and it is an ideal spot for diving, with a vast array of exotic fish.  The remainder of the terrain is jungle.

SRI RACHA TIGER ZOO
With several hundreds of tigers and thousands of alligators, this place is great to get up close and personal with some of the worlds scariest animals.

UNDERWATER WORLD
Underwater world is home to a plethora of marine species, down a 105 metre tunnel.  There are feeding shows and educational lectures.

MINI SIAM
Mini Siam is in north Pattaya and famous for its model villages.  There are miniature replicas of Thailands most famous monuments, including the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Democracy Monument, Bridge over the River Kwai, Prasat Hin Phimai and many more.  Minature replicas of the Tower Bridge of London, Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty and Trevi Fountain are also displayed in the section called “mini world”.
