Phang Nga is a seaside southern province of Thailand, on the Andaman Sea. Phang Nga is renowned for its natural beauty and includes many island of the Phang Nga Bay. The most well known of these islands is the James Bond Island, which is a needle formed limestone rock in the sea, which featured in the James Bond movie, The Man with the Golden Gun in 1974. In 1981 the Ao Phang Nga National Park was established to protect these small islands natural beauty.
There are many beautiful sites to explore in the Phang Nga province, these include.
Phang Nga Bay or Ao Phang Nga National Park
This area is filled with masses of limestone formations throughout the sea and the nearby shore. Due to the natural changes in these formation, there are hidden caves and hidden rock formations too. This area offers unbelievable scenic views.
Mu Ko Similan National Park
Mu Ko Similan National Park is composed of nine islands stretching from north to south. The beauty is renowned both onshore and underwater.
Mu Ko Surin National Park
This National Park is comprised of five islands, including Ko Surin, Nuea, Ko Surin Tai, Ko Ri, Ko Khai and Ko Klang. This area is also suitable for snorkelling and has beautiful coral reefs.
Ko Phra Thong
This is a large island, with many beaches. There is also a large reservoir of fresh water on the island.
Khao Lampi Hat Thai Mueang National Park
This 18 acre National Park has many interesting attractions, including a 6 tiered waterfall and two Buddhist temples in the mountains.
Besides the beautiful sites of Phang Nga, there are also many interesting and adventurous activities to undertake, like elephant cave trekking, rafting, rock climbing, kayaking, cruising, fishing and canoeing.
