RAWAI BEACH

Rawai Beach is located 17 kilometres outside of Phuket city centre.  It is known as being Phukets first tourist beach, since the drive to Phukets west coast beaches was too dangerous until recently.  Nowadays Rawai is not so popular with tourists, but more so a working beach.   Most day trips will start here and boats can be hired to explore the nearby islands, including, Coral Island, Koh Lone and Racha Island. 

There are several big resorts located near Rawai Beach and the area is full of busy bars, with an excellent nightlife.  On the way out of the village Cape Phromthep is worth visiting, it offers one of the best view points of Phuket.
